·Automation supplier cooperation aimed at the growth of China-US auto industry

Aiming at automation applications in special fields such as plastics for vehicles (such as laser cutting door panels), German automatic machine manufacturer RT and Austrian 3Con Anlagenbau GmbH have announced cooperation projects at the Fakuma International Exhibition.
Stefan Maier, general manager of RT, said that this was the first time that 3Con and Robot-Technology GmbH jointly participated in the exhibition. They also disclosed their cooperation for the first time. They established technical cooperation six months ago.
In an interview with the reporter on the booth, the company's managers said that the cooperation is in line with the two major trends in the automotive industry: automakers are more convenient to adopt new technologies through strong technical support; the global model platform is increasing, the same car is in Simultaneous production and sales in Europe, North America or Asia has led to an increasing demand for standardization.
Georg Schemmerer, head of US and China sales at 3Con, said: "Our customers want to find global partners. More and more cars are now on the global platform."
RT's 60 to 70% of its technology, including laser cutting and fastener assembly for plastic parts, can be integrated into 3Con's products for lamination, automation, welding, thermoforming and hemming.
The cooperation is also designed to help control the price of such integration. He said: "Our two companies have experience in the technical field and we will not raise the price too high."
Schemmerer said that RT has 55 employees, and 3Con has grown from about 50 employees two years ago to 175 employees today, with annual sales of about 50 million euros. About 75% of sales come from Europe.
The two companies said that more than 90% of their business comes from the automotive market.
But in the automotive industry, 3Con believes that North America has significant potential and is expected to have 30 employees in the Detroit Center by mid-2015.
He said: "We have a lot of business in the US. This year our US sales reached 10 million euros and there is no office yet."
He said that 3Con also expects demand from Chinese multinational automakers to grow.
Schemmerer said: "This technology is also favored by European companies in China, especially German companies." He said that as China's labor costs continue to rise, local automakers are interested in automation processes, such as the door. The edge of the board is covered with vinyl.
