Zhang Changfu, vice president and secretary-general of the Iron and Steel Industry Association, said that according to the production situation of China's steel industry from January to May this year, China's crude steel production is expected to reach 700 million tons in 2012.
Zhang Changfu believes that at present, China's steel production as a whole reflects the characteristics of "slightly increased iron and steel production, and the growth rate has significantly declined."
According to the data provided by the China Iron and Steel Association, from January to May this year, the country’s output of pig iron, crude steel and steel (including repetitive materials) was 277.710 million tons, 2962.610 million tons and 384.406 million tons, respectively, an increase of 2.6% and 2.2% year-on-year respectively. With 6.3%, the growth rate dropped by 4.7, 6.3 and 6.6 percentage points from the same period of last year.
From the perspective of crude steel daily production level, it was 1.830 million tons in January, 1.927 million tons in February, 1.968 million tons in March, 2.019 million tons in April, 1.975 million tons in May, and cumulative production of crude steel 29626 in January-May.
