FAW Jiefangqing Steam Turbine Holds AMT Frontier Technology Seminar

From March 27th to 28th, FAW Jiefang Qingdao Automobile Factory held a lecture on the development of AMT technology. Specially invited Professor Lei Yulong and Dr. Hongbo Liu of the College of Automotive Engineering of Jilin University gave lectures. The related technicians of the R&D Department, Quality Assurance Department, Purchasing Department, and Final Assembly Workshop of the Qingqi Automobile Plant participated in the training.

During the training, the two teachers gave in-depth explanations on the main principles, main components and control strategies of AMT, international/domestic development trends of AMT technology, and the dynamic principles and modeling of AMT systems.

As an important production base for liberation trucks, R&D of R&D plants has always kept pace with market demands. In recent years, AMD technology has been developed with a large amount of investment in R&D. In 2009, the annual output of the 100,000th heavy-duty truck produced by Qingmo was the AMT transmission.

AMT is short for Mechanical Automatic Transmission. Its working principle is to carry out transformation on the basis of the original manual transmission, mainly to change the manual shift operation part. That is, under the condition that the overall transmission structure is not changed, the automatic shifting system can be achieved through the installation of a computer-controlled automatic control system.

At present, AMT transmissions have long been widely used in Europe, but they are still at the initial stage in China and are still unfamiliar to Chinese truck users. Compared with the traditional transmission, AMT gearbox has many advantages such as more convenient operation, stronger power, more fuel economy, better safety and so on. The application of AMT technology to trucks is a major trend. At present, many domestic manufacturers have invested in AMT technology development and application. In 2008, the first batch of FAW Jiefang J5P 6*4 tractors using AMT system were delivered to users.
