German horse brand Hefei builds a total investment of 185 million euros
The German Hefei Tire Factory Hefei factory project that was suspended due to the financial crisis was finally completed in July of this year. Nikolai Setzer, member of the Continental Group Executive Board and head of the car and light truck tire division, said that the German brand tires will eventually achieve the goal of producing and selling passenger car tires in China, with an annual production capacity of 4 million tires. The total investment of the new horse factory in Hefei, Germany, is 185 million euros (approximately RMB 1.626 billion). It is the first factory of the Continental Group's car and light truck tires division in China. According to the plan, the first tires produced at the Hefei plant will be listed in China in early 2011. The preliminary designed annual production capacity is 4 million tires, and it is still possible to further increase annual production in the future. The Hefei factory of the German horse brand tire company was originally scheduled to be completed and put into production in 2009. However, the financial crisis broke out in 2008, which led to a rapid decline in the sales volume of global auto companies, which also made the outlook of the tire industry unfavorable. However, due to the unusually strong performance of the Chinese auto market in 2009, the company has decided to terminate the shutdown early.
