He also used LED lighting to illuminate the Internet receiving device and laptop to play a piece of online video data: if the light source is blocked, the computer can't access the Internet, the video stops playing; if the light is weakened in the direction of the light source, the computer can still access the Internet, but the data transmission The rate is slower, the video plays slower and there is a jam. Haas said this is because the receiving device is very sensitive to light intensity.
Based on the lighting technology, researchers at the University of Edinburgh have also developed solar-powered wireless Internet technology. Haas said that the solar cell Li-Fi receiving device can reach a data transmission rate of 7 Mbps, which is equivalent to the current data transmission rate of wireless Internet access. The solar panel can both provide energy for the optical signal receiving device and detect the network signal so that the data can be transmitted.
Haas said that solar-powered lighting technology can extend the reach of wireless networking, enabling wireless communications in remote areas, developing areas without network infrastructure, and in emergencies, opening up possibilities for a wide range of wireless communications applications.
He said that the advantages of the light Internet technology include radio wave interference, resources, security, energy saving and environmental protection, and reasonable price.
