The Changchun Dacheng Group has started construction of a project to process 2.25 million tons of corn and 1 million tons of chemical alcohol annually. The project has a total investment of 12 billion yuan.

Xu Zhouwen, chairman of Changchun Dacheng Group, said that the project has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Environmental Protection Administration to produce 1 million tons of corn chemical alcohol, 1 million tons of bio-fiber polyester, 1 million tons of bio-resin and 200,000 tons of glutamic acid. By-product fiber feed, corn gluten meal, corn oil, biological fertilizer and other products. The annual output value will reach 40 billion yuan and profits and taxes will be 10 billion yuan.

Xu Zhouwen said that the substitution of bio-chemicals for oil resources is already a general trend. Fuel ethanol and the use of ethanol as a raw material to produce ethylene glycol wastes both food resources and fuel coal, which is costly and uneconomical. The production of 1 ton of chemical alcohol requires only 1 ton of starch, that is, the production of 1 ton of chemical alcohol consumes only 1.42 tons of corn, and 420 kg of corn oil, protein powder and feed, and other by-products, and the energy consumption is only 50% of the original design. The substantial reduction in cost is an ideal biotech innovation invention technology.
