Recently, the National Institute of Fisheries of Argentina (INIDEP) officially selected Kongsberg Maritime's complete Simrad marine ecosystem assessment technology for installation into a new marine and fishery research vessel.
The vessel is currently under construction at the Astilleros Armon Vigo SA shipyard in Spain and is expected to be delivered in mid-2017. The new captain, 52 meters long, will be built as a silent ship, using the advanced Simrad Marine Ecosystem Package to provide highly accurate survey results for Argentine scientists.
Equipment supplied by Kongsberg includes the EK80 Scientific Broadband System, the ME70 Scientific Multibeam System, the SX90 Omnidirectional Sonar, the PI50 Trawl Monitoring System, and a Simrad TD50 software.
