Korean ship companies team up to develop a new generation of marine digital radar

It is reported that in order to develop digital radar (product library purchase supply), 10 companies including Hyundai Heavy Industries (ship hangar location), Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Ulsan Economic Development Institute, Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Research Institute and SMEs In July 2010, we formed an alliance to jointly conduct independent research and development. Recently, the research and development work of Korea Hyundai Heavy Industries' new generation of "digital radar for ships" has come to an end and will be commercialized from 2015.
    The resolution of the successfully developed digital radar is twice as high as that of the existing products, and it is possible to detect objects of about 70 cm in size 10 km away even in severe weather conditions. The core component of the digital radar, the power amplifier, has a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours, which is 16 times higher than other products in 3000 hours. The digital radar also has advantages in applications such as military, marine equipment, and aerospace.
    Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to obtain certification from major ship-class institutions such as DNV in Norway in the second half of next year and commercialize it from 2015 onwards. At the same time, Hyundai Heavy Industries also stated that it will develop a new integrated ship operating system that can integrate shipping systems, external environmental information and other ship information to ensure safe navigation.
