Shell Announces Resignation of Chairman of China Group
On December 11, 2012, Shell announced that Lin Haoguang, Chairman of Shell China Group, will retire from the company in early 2013 and his duties will be taken over by Haibert Viigeveno on January 1, 2013. The two co-hosted a press conference in Beijing and announced the personnel changes. Lin Haoguang is a Malaysian Chinese who has worked in Shell for 34 years and has held senior management positions in various countries and regions and Shell Group headquarters. In 2005, Lin Haoguang assumed the chairmanship of Shell China Group. Since then, Lin Haoguang announced that Shell’s business focus in China was first to work with Chinese partners to jointly develop energy projects overseas and then bring these energy back to China for sale. During the past seven years, Lin Haoguang formulated and implemented Shell's four-point strategy in China focusing on this business, making Shell an important energy company in China. The four-point strategy includes: expanding Shell's cooperation with China from domestic to international, helping to expand the overseas energy supply to China; assisting in the development of unconventional natural gas resources in China, and providing natural gas, liquefied natural gas, and high-quality oil products. Clean fuels complement China's energy supply; develop R&D and technology cooperation with China; cultivate excellent Chinese suppliers and incorporate it into the Shell Global Sourcing System to help promote the internationalization of Chinese companies and achieve business sharing and win-win results. For example, in 2010, Shell and China National Petroleum Corp. purchased Arrows of Australia. After the products were converted into natural gas, they were sold to Asia, mainly the Chinese market. This year, China National Offshore Oil Corporation and Shell signed a product sharing contract for the two blocks of Nanhai Yanggehai. In addition, Shell also cooperated with CNPC in the development of tight gas, coalbed methane and shale gas in Shaanxi, Sichuan and other provinces. Currently, Shell invests about one billion US dollars in China each year. Employees of wholly-owned subsidiaries and joint ventures have increased from 4,000 in 2006 to nearly 20,000 now, of whom more than 98% are Chinese. “China's seven years are both exciting and challenging,†said Lin Haoguang. “We have identified four business strategic priorities, vigorously promoted implementation, and achieved large-scale business growth... We and the government, business partners, customers and The communities in which we have established a good partnership. I hope Shell colleagues will be proud of their contributions to the past seven years." Haibo, who is about to take over, is a Dutchman. He has worked in Shell for 17 years and has held various leadership positions. He was responsible for business in Europe, North America, Latin America, and Africa. The current position is Vice President of Supply and Distribution for Shell Europe and Africa. Shell revealed that in August 2012, Haibo moved to Beijing to prepare for the chairmanship of Shell China Group. In 2004, Haibo was based in São Paulo, where he served as general manager of Shell Latin America lubricants business. In 2007, Haibo was the General Manager of Shell Global Lubricant Strategy and Asset Portfolio, responsible for the development of a global lubricant business strategy. Started his current position in 2009. According to relevant Shell sources, Shell China's lubricants business has grown rapidly, reaching an annual growth rate of nearly 20%. Haibo said at the press conference: “The Shell China Group has continued to grow under the leadership of Haoguang and has passed one important milestone after another. I sincerely thank Haoguang for his vision and strong leadership. I will continue to promote the development of Shell in China. The strategy is to accelerate the implementation of the strategy in line with Shell's plans to increase investment in China." Universal silicone Phone Case Feature:
