China Drying Newsletter was informed by Sinopec Group that on December 17th, Yangtse Petrochemical's olefins plant's 5000 tons/year MTP plant was successfully commissioned. The successful drive of the device indicates that Sinopec has opened up a new process route for the production of basic organic chemical raw materials from coal gasification.

Yangzi Petrochemical's 5,000-ton/year methanol-to-olefin plant started construction in October last year and is one of Sinopec's ten-dragon technology projects. The project uses proprietary technology independently developed by Sinopec, using methanol as a chemical raw material, and replacing part of the imported oil to produce propylene. The experimental device fully relied on the existing ethylene plant of Yangzi Petrochemical, with good matching, low investment and short construction period.
