Bosch plans to build two new plants in India in the next seven years
According to Indian media reports, Bosch , a German component supplier, announced that it will invest 15 billion rupees (about 240 million U.S. dollars) into India for the construction of two new factories in the next seven years. Bosch India Company recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new plant in Bidadi, India. The company’s general manager Soumitra Bhattacharya stated: “In spite of the economic downturn in India, we continue to promote the two construction projects in Bidadi and Adugodi and will continue in the future. During the year, $240 million was spent on these two projects in Karnataka." Bosch has a total of 26,500 employees in India, of whom 15,000 are located in Karnataka. Soumitra Bhattacharya also said that the company will create more direct and indirect jobs in Karnataka. According to Bosch India company officials, the company will relocate its existing plant in Adugodi to Bidadi, and the Adugodi plant will be used for further expansion of the company's R&D center to create a technical and engineering center. In order to build a new factory, Bosch has acquired 97 acres of land in Bidadi and will invest 2.5 billion rupees in the initial development phase. The Bidadi plant is expected to be put into operation in the third quarter of 2015, when it will put into operation the various components of the diesel injection system. The plant will become Bosch's fifth plant in India.
