Goodyear showcases innovative automatic pneumatic tire technology

At the recent 2012 Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, Germany, Goodyear Tire, one of the world’s largest tire manufacturers, demonstrated its innovative automatic pneumatic tire technology. Tests have shown that this technology not only can effectively reduce the cost of tire conversion, but also can effectively reduce carbon dioxide emissions by saving fuel.

This intelligent tire inflation system intelligently uses a sensor and several regulators to complete the inflation process, and does not require external power such as air pumps or electronic devices to help. When the tire pressure falls to a predetermined value, the regulator will open the switch and draw air into a suction tube. When the tire rolls, the suction tube will be flattened and press the air into the tire inlet valve. Goodyear said that in the future people will not need to consider how to detect tire pressure, which will enable vehicles to travel longer distances.
