In terms of exports, apart from growth in the shipbuilding industry, semiconductor electronic components, household electrical appliances (down 48.5%), and steel exports all showed a downward trend. On the import side, liquid natural gas, crude oil and other products have all increased. The average exchange rate of the U.S. dollar issued by the Japan Ministry of Finance in November 2011 was 77.29 yen per U.S. dollar, an increase of 5.0% from the same period last year.
Japan’s exports increased by 2.4% in January-March 2011 and the same period of last year, but due to factors such as the Great Earthquake in Japan, the economic downturn in Europe and the United States, the slowdown in China’s economy, the flood disaster in Thailand, and the appreciation of the yen, Japan 4-6 Monthly export decreased by 8.0% year-on-year, slightly increased by 0.5% in July-September, and rose by 3.8% in October. In November, it declined by 4.5%. In contrast, imports continued to grow for 23 months.
The fasteners trade situation is basically the same as the overall import and export trade situation in Japan. Exports have decreased slightly, but imports have increased by 10.8%.
According to the trade data of fasteners issued by Japan's Ministry of Finance, total exports of fasteners in Japan during January-November 2011 were 290,150 tons, a decrease of 1.1% compared with the same period of last year, and total exports also decreased by 1.2%. It was 2,292.26 billion yen. Total imports of fasteners were 21.039 tons, an increase of 11.1% over the same period of last year, and total imports were 65.979 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%.
