Why car manufacturers crazy "bus car"

Why is it that other people's cars have been driving for 10 years or are still tight, and your car has been feeling loose for three to five years? ——Because other people's vehicles have experienced more bitterness during the R&D phase and received more “crimes”, they are more “resisting”.

In addition to the performance associated with driving, the car has several particularly important aspects of comfort, safety, reliability, durability, etc. Among them, "durability" determines whether the car is premature or youthful. And the durability of the car is that manufacturers use the violent means to “batter” out of the R&D stage.

For a car, the current research and development cycle is usually three to five years, and the average life cycle is about fifteen years. In the R&D phase, the test time left for durability is often several months. In other words, car manufacturers can only use the time of a few months to verify the use of the car more than ten years. Time is tight and the task is heavy. Testers are changing their designs to desperately toss their cars and try to find durability problems in a short period of time.

Of course, “bus abuse” also requires skill. It is not a matter of employing several people to drove all the way in order to get things done. In the past, car manufacturers drove around and drove tests on public roads. The limitation of this method is very large, the test conditions are not well controlled, and the repeatability and comparability of the test results are also poor. Therefore, the durability test of the car at that time was just a matter of doing something about it.

Since the emergence of the world's first test track in 1924, the test of vehicle durability can be carried out in the test track. A variety of road conditions can be simulated in the test track, and the test conditions can be "standardized." But this kind of field test is running in a car, even if you run continuously for several months, compared with the durability requirements of a car for more than ten years, the gap is still too big. Moreover, as long as it is found that there is a problem with the durability of a part, it will be time-consuming to replace the new part with a new one from scratch.

Regardless of whether it is a public road or a test track, the pattern and skills of the “battery-busting” vehicle are too limited and the efficiency is not high enough. Therefore, the durability testing laboratory came into being.

When visiting the Geely Automobile (Hangzhou Bay) R&D center the other day, we paid special attention to the durability laboratory. Geely's R&D center can carry out development testing of complete vehicles, engines and transmissions. In the laboratory, we saw that an Emgrand GL's "four legs" were firmly "struck" on the four columns of the gantry. This poor emgrand GL experimental vehicle was tortured by a column at a strange speed, angle and amplitude for 24 hours.

In fact, in addition to the entire vehicle being "abuse", various parts also have the problem of durability. Before loading the car, many parts have been "abuse". For example, car seats will be "kneaded" by robots, and the doors will be opened and closed by the robot.

Nowadays, car manufacturers’ “abuse” vehicles are divided into three categories. Roads are “abuse”, sites are “abuse”, and laboratories are “abuse”. Among them, sites are “abuse” and laboratories “abuse”. Because of the huge investment, some manufacturers can only rely on External resources to do these tests. However, domestic auto companies like Geely have already established a complete durability experiment system with reference to the large international companies. The durability level of some self-owned brands can be trusted.

In order to let everyone have a complete understanding of the car manufacturers' car abuse process, I will briefly introduce the standard process of a brand. This brand will use 19 weeks to complete a 12-year durability test equivalent to an actual car. The whole process is divided into 5 steps.

In the first step, a salt spray test is performed in a laboratory at a temperature of 30°C above zero to test the corrosion resistance. In the second step, the test can be conducted in a laboratory with a temperature of 50°C and a humidity of 100%. The third step, with 80 1200W halogen headlamps, the maximum temperature rises to zero above 90 °C, to see if the interior and exterior materials will fade aging; The fourth step, the four-pillar stand at minus 35 °C On the top of the car, let the suspension and the body withstand the cold test; the fifth step, in the test site under various road conditions.

In five steps, the vehicle actually ran only 12,000 kilometers, and the “torture” suffered by the vehicle was equivalent to 12 years of normal use by ordinary car owners.

Well, everyone saw the car's fancy scene of “abuse”. It must have been a pleasant experience. It was also “perverted” to see the self-owned brand “abuse” from starting the car. The durability of the country’s trucks was also assured. .
